I remember purchasing hearing aids for my father-in-law in the 1990s. It was complicated, long, frustrating, and expensive. We had no choice. I complained to my wife about the rent-seeking nature of this regulated industry and the damage it was doing to middle- and lower-income people. The recent regulation change for hearing aids is a boon for consumers, and soon the technology will become amazing, easy, and cheap for elderly people.
